Apply to be a Research Assistant

Thank you for exploring the possibility of becoming a Research Assistant in our lab. Much of the success of our lab is due to the excellence of those who assist with our research. The lab's research seeks to understand and explain our everyday notions of concepts, reasoning and language in terms of the psychological and neurological underpinnings of learning and memory. The goal is to develop an ever more precise computational understanding of mind. We have several ongoing studies running in the lab on probabilistic learning in children. In addition, some of our senior RAs are running studies on metaphor, malapropism, pitch discrimination, semantic association, matching tasks, stereotype threat and predictive priming.

Typically research assistants work for 5-15 hours a week. We offer credit and graded units as well as work study, which typically pays $11-$16/hr. We do not independently fund researchers, though if you are interested in applying for a major research grant through the university, we encourage you to do so. This quarter, we are specifically looking for RAs interested in either a) running children, b) writing science journalism, c) computational modeling and data analysis.

Some background in psychology, neuroscience, linguistics or philosophy is helpful, but no prior experience is required. Self-starters and diligent workers are preferred.
